The Sonoma County Fair is in full swing now, and I went with my BFF's for our annual "girl's day" at the Fair. It was fun to see all the arts and crafts. This year I entered one scrapbook layout, and 3 greeting cards. Imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw my spread, SUNNY'S GRADUATION, not only won 1st prize in its class, but Best Of Section!!! Woo Hoo!!! I was so not expecting to win anything that I left my camera in my car! So I had to trudge back out to the parking lot to retrieve it.
This layout was a tongue-in-cheek celebration of our puppy's graduation from obedience school, when she was 8 months old. She was definitely the challenging "Marley" of the class, but she persevered and graduated with honors. We were so proud, my DH called her "our scholar", LOL!!!! I didn't take a photo of the layout prior to submitting it to the Fair, so its kind of hard to see in the photo above. When the Fair ends, I'll get it back and post a proper photo for your viewing pleasure.
This "thank you" card took the 4th place ribbon. It's not my usual style, kinda "granny", but I love the doilies.
This birthday card earned a 3rd place ribbon. (sorry the photo's so bad - I'll post a better view later)
And finally, the card I posted previously took 2nd place, under the "holiday cards" category.
I hope you have a chance to go to the Fair and see all the arts and crafts and photography. Some of my crafty pals have their beautiful award-winning creations on display. Lots of inspiration!
Thanks for looking!
Lisa, I saw your lovely entry at the fair on opening day, I didn't tell you, so when you went to the fair you could be surprised :) And yes, Michelle and I must not have been the only ones who missed the deadline! I think it was a week earlier this year? Two weeks before the fair, not the week before as usual!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. You deserve! I do love your designs.
ReplyDeleteEntries were due June 3 and intake was July 12.
Did you also make a little doll in a box?
Congrats on the ribbons! Jim and I will be going to the fair on Friday, and I can't wait to see your entries in person :)
ReplyDeleteYay Lisa! How exciting to find your winners and the best in category is BIG!!! Good job, I'll look for them all too this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, friends, thank you!
ReplyDeleteBut the field was pretty small this year since many of you (you know who you are) didn't or weren't able to enter, so I feel like I partially won by default. Hopefully everyone will enter next year - it's so fun to see everyone's work on display!
I am so proud of you! Funny how an old friend feels close enough to make that kind of maternal statement. You were always so talented and it is nice to see you keep growing and inspiring us.
